Ontogenesis of Latticelike Aggregates of Goethite, Kryvyi Rih Basin (Ukraine)

Abstract: Latticelike aggregate goethite originated in the hypergenesis zone due to the manifestation of complex processes of physical and chemical weathering (oxidation) of magnetite ores. Strong hydration, high pH and Eh values, as well as crystalchemical criteria favored the destruction of magnetite and its transition to a colloidal solution, from which a latticelike aggregate was formed in the fissure system.
