Abstract: The science on fluid inclusions in minerals, often called as thermobarogeochemistry, has existed for over one and a half century. The heyday alternated with stagnation during the long period of science development. Experimental work carried by M.P. Yermakov at the Lviv University in the middle of the last century gave a significant impetus to its development. This work was continued in the academic scientific institutions in Lviv and Kyiv. In the 1950-1980s Ukraine was the leading inclusions research center not only in the Soviet Union, but abroad as well. This is largely due to the scientific schools of Volodymyr Kalyuzhnyi and Oleg Petrychenko, which enriched the science with the new research methods of inclusions as well as with their results. In 1972 the Inclusions Research Laboratory was founded by the Academician Euvhen Lazarenko at the Department of the Regional and Genetic Mineralogy of the M.P. Semenenko Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Ore Formation of the NAS of Ukraine. For decades, the small laboratory team has developed new methods of using inclusions in minerals to reconstruct the complex mineralization processes. In particular, by combining the mineral substance state diagrams with the results of the fluids in the inclusions research, the magnitude of the erosional section of chamber pegmatites, the conditions of Li-mineral metasomatism, and the formation of gold deposits were determined. The pyrolysis device to the serial chromatograph was constructed which enabled to determine the content of all the most widespread volatile components in the mineral using one sample and to reveal their nature as well.
