Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of chemical composition, staging, and spatial patterns of exogenous transformation (leucoxenization) of ilmenite in deposits of different ages and genesis within the Buky site of the Mezhyrich titanium ore deposit. This made it possible to establish variations in the contents of TiO2, P2O5, FeO, Fe2O3, and Cr2O3 in ilmenite from diverse formations (Mesozoic eluvial kaolins and Lower Cretaceous Irshansk Suite deposits: deluvial-alluvial kaolins and alluvial sands). According to chemical analysis data, the removal of divalent iron (deferrization) and the relative accumulation of immobile titanium dioxide were established, leading to the destruction of the ilmenite crystal lattice. Chromium (Cr2O3) demonstrated inert behavior, preserving its primary magmatic distribution. Calculation of Pearson linear correlation coefficient matrices revealed strong inverse relationships between TiO2 and FeO, as well as between FeO and Fe2O3 for ilmenite across all genetic deposit types. A stable coherence in the behavior of phosphorus (P2O5) and titanium was observed (direct correlation up to +0.9176), which has a secondary sorption nature. In the vertical profile of eluvial kaolins, an inverse geochemical zonality has been established, where the degree of ilmenite alteration increases with depth: from weakly altered in the upper horizon (5—15 m) to intensely transformed in the lower horizon (over 20 m), which is caused by prolonged stabilization of the groundwater table. Cartographic modeling of the spatial distribution of ilmenite with varying oxide contents and FeO/ Fe2O3 ratios was carried out in eluvial, deluvial–alluvial, and alluvial deposits. Based on the FeO/Fe2O3 ratio and the absolute concentrations of FeO, Fe2O3, and TiO2 in the studied deposits, the following varieties were distinguished: magmatic (unaltered) ilmenite, oxidized ilmenite, highly altered (leached) ilmenite, pseudorutile, and leucoxene. For quantitative assessment of spatial heterogeneity and continuity of mineral phases, fractal (Box-Counting) and multifractal analysis methods were applied. The evolution of cluster dimension (Dc) and descriptors of the multifractal spectrum (width Δα and asymmetry A) was established — from a monofractal stable distribution of unaltered magmatic ilmenite to maximum chaos at the stage of pseudorutilization, and complete spatial discreteness (point anomalies of singular enrichment) at the stage of leucoxene formation. Cartographic analysis of the lateral distribution of unaltered ilmenite and its transformational phases revealed the predominance of more altered forms in the western part of the Buky site, and magmatic and less altered ilmenite in the eastern part.

Keywords: Mezhyrich deposit, Buky site, unaltered ilmenite, oxidized ilmenite, highly altered (leached) ilmenite, pseudorutile, leucoxene, chemical composition, FeO/Fe2O3 ratio, correlation analysis, fractal analysis, lateral distribution, mapping.
